The Boone County Attorney’s Office operates two optional diversion programs for certain traffic citations.

County Attorney Traffic Safety Program (CATS): The County Attorney Traffic Safety Program (CATS) is an optional diversion program for traffic citations. By participating in CATS, individuals can have their traffic citations dismissed without the citation showing up on their driving record or having points attributed to their driver’s license. In order to participate in CATS, the individual must register, pay the course fee, and complete a one-hour online course. Upon completion of the course, the County Attorney’s office will dismiss the citation. Eligibility to participate in CATS is determined by the County Attorney’s office.

Alive at 25 Driver’s Awareness Program (Alive at 25): The Alive at 25 program is a highly interactive program that helps states and courts teach drivers between the ages of 16-24 to make safe, respectful, and legal driving decisions. The four-hour classroom course, available in English and Spanish, allows for individuals to have the opportunity for their traffic citations to be dismissed without the citation showing up on their driving record or having points attributed to their driver’s license. Since Kentucky State Police started teaching the Alive at 25 course in 2004, the Commonwealth’s death toll among drivers aged 16-19 dropped by 60%. In order to participate in Alive at 25, the individual must register, pay the course fee, and complete the Alive at 25 course. Upon completion of the course, the County Attorney’s office will dismiss the citation. Eligibility to participate in Alive at 25 is determined by the County Attorney’s office.
